As an NIU alum, you have access to a variety of career support offerings, including:

  • Huskies Get Hired – Post and search job opportunities (lifetime access)
  • NIU Career Fairs – Be a part of in-person and virtual recruiting events (lifetime access)
  • Workshops and Career Events – Attend skill-building and networking events (lifetime access)
  • Career Counseling– Schedule one-on-one appointments with career counselors (up to three years after graduation)

COOP Careers

COOP Careers is a free fellowship program for unemployed or underemployed first-generation B.A. grads who are interested in data analyticsdigital marketing or financial services. As a COOP fellow, you'll spend four evenings per week for 16 weeks learning technical skills, meeting potential employers and building community.

Candidates must meet all of the criteria below:

  • Earned your B.A. before the first day of the program
  • Unemployed (and legally authorized to work in the U.S.) or underemployed (meaning your current job description does not require a bachelor’s degree)
  • Earn less than $50,000 per year
  • Are a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. (i.e., permanent resident, employment authorization, DACA recipient)
  • Be at least 21 years old by the first day of program
  • Available four evenings per week (Monday-Wednesday) for the duration of the program
  • Live within one of their region-specific states: CA, IL, NY, NJ, CT, FL
